Finding some answers

Understanding the origins of the seven vices, historical background and explanations of what they mean, is a good starting point. I have reviewed this information before when creating my visual mapping, but it is nice to have a link that quickly reminds me of where this process began and the possibilities of where it can go.

As May 14th quickly approaches and my senior project begins to become a reality I find myself asking these questions.

01. What do the seven cardinal sins mean? in my life? in the city of Memphis? in the South? in America? in popular culture?

02. How do I reinvent this concept in a new and exciting way that also holds true to my design style and ethics of self?

03. What do I want the viewers to gain from this piece?

04. What do I want to gain from this experience and this piece?

05. Do I explore new techniques that are challenging or remain with in my comfort zone and use the training that I have already acquired and that I feel confident executing?

06. Where do I find new color palettes, typestyles, and methodologies that are not only innovative, but work well within the parameters.

07. How do I get past the tumult of my mind and uncover a successful piece?

So over the next few months I plan on answering these questions and hope to find myself emerged in the creative process: making mistakes, learning, trying new techniques, and creating a piece that I am confident in for our senior show. I know my greatest challenge will be to push my limits and explore the unknown.
